An application of Buddhist principle for old age people’s happy living

Abstract

             This research is of 3 objectives namely: - 1. To study the state of problems in carrying out the life by the old aged people in present Thai societies. 2. To study the Buddhist Doctrinal principles for carrying out the life by the old aged people. 

3. To propose the way of the application of the Doctrinal principles for carrying out the life happily by the old aged people in the present societies.

            In the methodology of the research, the two methods of study will be carried out, namely: the Documentary study and the field study of the in depth interview with the key informants.

            The result arising from the study of state of problems in carrying out the life by the old aged people in present Thai societies which are of 4 problems, namely:
1. On the side of the body 2. On the side of mentality 3. On the side of society and of living together 4. On the side the economics. From the field study, it is found that the exemplary group of old aged people have various types of diseases found in the old aged people, but most of them are of good personalities, good temperaments and happiness.

            From the Buddhist Doctrinal principles for carrying out the life by the old aged people, it is found that the Doctrinal principles 1. On the side of the
body, 4 Noble Truths, 3 Characteristics, 5 Aggregates,Yonisomanasikāra and Āyussadhamma. 2. On the side of mentality, Puññakiriyāvatthu, 4 Iddhipādas,
4 satipaţţhanas and Maraņasati. 3. On the side of society and of living together,
8 Lokadhammas, 4 Brahmavihāras, Kalyāņamittata, Khanti and Soracca. 4. On the side the economics, 6 Apāyamukhas, Diţţhadhammikattha and Santosa.

            The results received from this research are the understanding of the true life with Sīla and as Dhamma on the bases; the taking of the proper food, the proper residence, the daily exercise, always making the merits, all of the mentioned merits can cause a person to be away from suffering. The mentioned merits cause a person to be peaceful and be concentration Vipassanā.
